“Happy!” Canceled By Syfy ; Producers Eyeing Netflix
Not anymore.
Syfy continues the unwavering ability of not being able to launch any sort of series with animation in it. With Alien News Desk expected not to return for a second season, it has been announced that after two seasons, Happy has been canceled. That said, the series does well on Netflix so it’s expected to get serious consideration for continuation, however, nothing has been announced just yet. (Update 7/10: it’s not)
“Happy!” is based on New York Times best-selling author Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson’s graphic novel of the same name. The series follows Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni, “Law & Order: SVU”) – an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hitman – who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit gone wrong, his inebriated life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue winged horse named Happy (Patton Oswalt).
“Happy!” is produced by UCP (Universal Content Productions). Executive producers include Morrison (“Batman,” “The Invisibles”), Brian Taylor (“Crank,” “Gamer”), Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Toby Jaffe of Original Film (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise), Meloni and showrunner Patrick Macmanus.
For our UK readers, note that for those that watch Happy in the UK on Netflix, the cost of the streaming service is increasing to £8.99 a month for the standard package and the premium package to £11.99.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
