Review: We Bare Bears “Band of Outsiders”

Let’s take this outside.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

Ice Bear runs into some British punk rock kids and becomes one himself as the crew tears through London and cause all sorts of trouble. Eventually, Ice Bear decides against making this thing into a long term commitment and instead opts to continue his solo travels.

Our Take

Baby Ice Bear is such a fabulous character. Really all of the baby bears are but Ice Bear is something special. This week’s episode could’ve been a bit more special if we weren’t relegated simply to a montage for the lot of it, but I understand the use here. It did its job, but to go from the super touching moment between Yuri and Ice Bear to kick off the show to a bit of a hodgepodge in the middle there, only to end as beautifully as the show did with Ice Bear’s exit with a “Teenage Wasteland” soundalike soundtrack to boot. “Band of Outsiders” straddles the line between brilliance and typical without fully committing to either. This one probably could’ve used a longer run time to truly flesh out and build up the different settings only to have the clash of cultures come with it more merit. In any event, We Bare Bears doesn’t lay a total egg, we were just oh so close to bliss.
