Review: We Bare Bears “Shmorby”; “Snake Babies”
Snake babies on a plane.
Overview (Spoilers Below)
“Shmorby“
Shmorby is a personal assistant similar to Amazon’s Alexa just way more feature-heavy in the areas of cooking, cleaning, and turning on the TV. Eventually, the Shmorby becomes so good at what it does, the bears gain a whole bunch of weight as a result in not moving. Fearing for their safety and lack of trying anymore, Shmorby disappears so that the bears can re-learn responsibility which inspires the bears to allow Shmorby to back to his planet.
“Snake Babies”
Charlie finds some baby snakes and decides to be their new mom. Problem is, these snakes become quite the handful and the whole bunch get lost in the woods. We get all of them back, but not before one of the snakes is taken by a mama eagle trying to feed her babies. Fortunately, Charlie is able to get all of the snakes back just in time to return them to their parents.
Our Take
This week’s episode is a tale of two very different episodes. On the one hand, we get a rather cliched effort with “Snake Babies”, a premise that has been done countless times both on this show and others. And on the other hand, “Shmorby” is Cartoon Network’s answer to Rick and Morty’s Mr. MeeSeeks in terms of importance. The episode is so damn weird and good, and the ending is even better, that I really hope we get a dozen more featuring the little blue guys. Maybe get some back story on the Shmorby’s homeworld and where they came from because it’s definitely not from a tech factory of any sorts. Do we really need an excuse for the bears to be in that episode by any means? I don’t think so, we’ve got the launch, just get right into it.
“Shmorby” is a super special concept that is begging for follow-ups. “Snake Babies”, we’ll probably get more of because it’s an easy as hell trope that can be copy and pasted for episodes about pets, wild animals, and anything else in between. I want more of the former.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
