Review: Allen’s Pole “Death By Other People”
Death by boredom.
Overview (Spoilers Below)
As Reggie kidnaps the expedition crew, a whale comes along and nearly saves the day, but it’s someone in Allen’s own party that comes to save the day for good. Reggie gets his throat cut by Sandy, but not before Reggie discovers the North Pole. While not being thrilled in sharing the glory, Allen opts to discover the South pole instead.
Our Take
It’s pretty funny how fast Reggie kills the whale and just how much of a savage Sandy is, but with an under four-minute runtime, Allen’s Pole is not a good enough reason to subscribe to VRV/Mondo. Examples of halfway decent series include Deep Space 69, Cat Agent, and the English dub adaptation of Lastman, unfortunately, Allen’s Pole doesn’t make sense as a series on a premium network and probably is best served as a Youtube series. The dialogue is pretty lame, the voice acting is only OK but starts to rip your ears off after a while, and every episode works to set up one gag and then it’s done. Allen’s Pole doesn’t hold up well versus other premium adult animation that’s out there. With Apple and Amazon getting ready to enter the fray, VRV/Mondo needs another hit or two on it’s hand to survive.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
