Renewals: “Our Cartoon President” Picked Up For Season Two; “The Simpsons” Close To Two Season Renewal
An orange and a yellow.
Alright, so we’ve got a few renewals to talk about, both stories are coming from Variety, and deal with animated series getting renewals for additional seasons. First up, Our Cartoon President has officially been given a second season renewal by Showtime which is good because from the sounds of it Trump is gonna get the 2020 election wrapped up anyway much to our chagrin. In any event, this marks the first time the Showtime network has had an adult animated series for two full seasons.
An animated comedy series exploring the tru-ish adventures of President Donald Trump and those closest to him. In this parallel cartoon universe, the Commander-in-Chief opens the White House doors for an “all-access” look at a typical day for the President of the United States. A satirical look at Trump’s day-to-day life, OUR CARTOON PRESIDENT examines the quintessentially Trumpian details of the presidency and his most important relationships, and no one is safe – from his close family and confidants to key political figures and members of the media.
The series is produced by CBS Television Studios and executive produced by Stephen Colbert, Chris Licht and R.J. Fried. Tim Luecke, who co-created The Late Show with Stephen Colbert version of the animated Trump, will serve as lead animator (and co-executive producer).

While not official yet, The Simpsons is reportedly being picked up for two more seasons (31 and 32). This really isn’t a surprise because the producers have been showing a bunch of script reads which included the next iteration of the Treehouse of Horror anthology which will also be the show’s 666th episode.
Recently nominated for a 2018 Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program, THE SIMPSONS exploded into a cultural phenomenon in 1990 and has remained one of the most groundbreaking and innovative global entertainment franchises. HOMER (Dan Castellaneta), MARGE (Julie Kavner), BART (Nancy Cartwright), LISA (Yeardley Smith) and MAGGIE are instantly identifiable around the world. The Emmy Award-, Annie Award- and Peabody Award-winning animated comedy is celebrating its 30thseason this year.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
