Blu-Ray Review: Rick and Morty Season Three

Third time’s a charm.

The art of the home release may be a waining effort, but when it’s done correctly, the results are stunning. Enter the home release for Rick and Morty Season Three. Forget for a second this release features the Emmy-winning “Pickle Rick” and all the behind-the-scenes that you can handle. But, the release is chock FULL of special features. We’ve got episode commentaries on each episode including celebrities like Peter Dinklage and Russell Brand to go along the cast of producers that provide insightful knowledge about working on Adult Swim’s leading series.

Included in the release are a few featurettes that you’ve seen on the Adult Swim Youtube page, like the Origins doc and episode video insights from the producers. We also get a slew of animatics for each and every one of the episodes for the animation junky in you. Last but not least, Rick and Morty Season Three in its uncensored glory. There’s nothing quite like watching this show when the gloves are off in full high definition which makes the ultra-violent scenes in episodes like “Pickle Rick” and “Vindicators” that much more delicious to scope out.

I could gripe about the lack of deleted scenes, and maybe a little gift included with the home releases would’ve been bonkers, but really Rick and Morty Season Three on Blu-Ray is the best home release of 2018 so far and it looks like for the remainder of the year. Required Christmas gift for anyone you know.
