Warner Bros TV Developing “Alf” Reboot
This is a way better idea than the movie.
Warner Bros. TV is exploring the possibility of an Alf reboot and is currently looking for a writer to do just that according to a new report from TVLine.
After Happy Days, every great network series would need that ONE character that had to be in every episode and was usually a fan favorite during a series run. In the case of the aforementioned series, it was Fonzie, by the mid-eighties, producers deployed an “alien life form” , or “ALF”., at the center of his own gig.
The basic premise of Alf involved the show’s title character being sheltered by a typical suburban family hoping not to get caught by a government agency long enough until his ship gets fixed. Well, that didn’t happen, and instead Alf stayed on Earth for four seasons with ratings that would often go toe-to-toe with the likes of Family Matters and Monday Night Football all the while reports of nightmare working conditions plagued the series to a controversial ending that even saw a network change.
Like most characters of the “ALF” variety, a lot of episodes dealt with the lead character giving silly advice that would lead to a mess that the other characters would have to clean up. Puppeteer and voice, Paul Fusco, took on the role of the artist formerly known as Gordon Shumway that really was as important a member of the family as anyone else on the show. In other words, despite being an alien from outer space, it’s no excuse for mankind not being able to get along.
And the fans loved him and the licensors knew it because before you knew it there were Alf-branded comics,spin-off cartoons, and video games. Even after the show was unceremoniously canned, the Alf character would continue to show up all over pop culture lore for decades to come either on game shows or cameos. Alf was the closest NBC got to having their own The Simpsons.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
