Review: Animals “Episode Twenty-Two: Dogs.”
It’s a dog eat dog world.
Overview (Spoilers Below)
With their owners no longer around, it’s up to the once domesticated dogs to dig into their wolve-influenced past so as to survive. Unfortunately, survival is tough, as there are some dogs, like “Phil”, whom constantly battle their addictions to dog collars, belly rubs, and food from a can. Now a teacher, Phil is one year sober from his addictions but has a rather heavy relapse after coming in contact with some contraband that sends him on a downward spiral that ends with him using stolen money to deal in the scurvy underworld that eventually gets him arrested. Months later, Phil gets back on the horse to sobriety, and, Who Knew? Turns out Phil’s gay and ends up marrying his partner, a guidance counselor named “Mike”, in what appears to be a beautiful ceremony.
Our Take
Addiction is an ugly mofo, and the producers of Animals do a great job of putting together a sordid tale of debauchery and despair that keeps you guessing right up until the last scene. Special kudos needs to be given to Phillip who did probably some of his finest voice acting work we’ve seen to date, showing true power in his delivery, especially during the more emotional scenes that were displayed. We had a great time seeing guest stars Steve Dildarian and Cheri Oteri, but the real star tonight was Phil who seemed to really elevate his game for this one.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
