English Dub Review: Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These “The Capture of Iserlohn Part 2”
Capture the queen.
Overview (Spoilers Below)
Walter von Schenkopp docks his spaceship into Iserlohn masquerading as an ally when in fact he’s a traitor to the Galactic Empire as part of the Rosen Ritter. He boards with permission from the higher-ups after claiming that he has secret intel info for the Free Planets Alliance as part of a reconnaissance mission and is able to take control of the command center. When the enemy fleet attempts to make a response, “Thor’s Hammer” does its dirty work and now Yang wants to resign having done the mission he was tasked to do…instead, he’s promoted.
Paul von Oberstein, chief of staff of the Iserlohn fleet, actually saw through Yang’s plan, despite having artificial eyes, and was able to flee before the hammer was dropped on his fleet.
Our Take
Anyone who loves high-end infiltration/Ocean’s 11 type plans that play out, this episode’s for you. During the course of the episode, we got quite a few flashbacks of both Walter’s background and the creation of the plan that came to pass before us. The personal conflict for Yang is starting to show and is quite entertaining, a successful general who wants out is a rare arc, but it’s working, but perhaps Oberstein has it in him to be the guy that can outduel Yang? Probably too early to tell right now, but it’s an exciting dynamic nonetheless.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
