Review: SpongeBob SquarePants “My Leg!”
Can this episode stand on its own two feet?
Overview (Possible Spoilers Below)
Once Fred has recovered from his most recent Leg injury, Spongebob is determined to make sure Fred’s terrible history with his legs doesn’t repeat itself.
Our Take
While the episode seemed to focus the most on an otherwise minor background character who’s only running joke is the frequent injuries his leg/legs experience in rapid succession, It aims high with briskly-paced physical comedy as Spongebob at one point, does his best to keep Fred from danger in variously painful ways.
There are genuine moments of humor and a laid-back atmosphere, as we get to know Fred for once as a fully realized character in this episode that makes him more than just a frequent punchline to a cruel joke, but an individual with goals, desires and even a job. So it’s understandable that Spongebob would feel some level of obligation to look out for him.
As the plot further progresses, Fred has expresses love for a Nurse at the hospital that we the audience have never seen or heard about before, which Ironically motivates both him and Spongebob to take a drastic measures for Fred to meet this Nurse again, but you’d think just visiting the individual at her off-time would’ve been the safer direction, but then we wouldn’t have this episode.
Overall, “My Leg!” was a strange yet entertaining episode even by Spongebob standards. while it excels in terms of humor and character moments, You can easily understand what goes on in the characters minds, and the twist ending regarding the nurse will mess with your expectations but in a fun & entertaining way.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
