Review: Camp WWE “The Ultimate Counselor”
There was nothing legend about this week’s episode.
Overview (Spoilers Below)
This week’s episode of Camp WWE sees Triple H being reunited with his father Quad H who is sort of like an Elon Musk but more of an asshole. When he meets Vinnie Mac, the two engage in a number of cliched competitions to see who has the bigger peen and it inspires Hunter to move back with his dead. Fortunately, Vince gets him back.
Meanwhile, Stone Cold runs away from Camp WWE and finds the Ultimate Warrior who is sort of in an exile but is still the Ultimate Warrior. We get a bunch of montages that showcase how much crazy shit these two get into despite being confined to Warrior’s cabin, but after a while, Stone Cold gets burned out and Slaughter’s gotta bail him out.
Our Take
First of all, we’ve been promised for nearly two seasons Quad H being voiced by the real Triple H, but I guess we couldn’t get him? This upsets me because I know Hunter’s a comical guy and I would’ve liked to have seen his voice acting chops come to pass in an adult animated series, though, that never happened. What we did get is a really cliched episode that has been done a thousand times and, quite frankly, I can only take David Michael Brown’s take on young Triple H in small doses before the voice starts irritating me. David’s “Undertaker” is MUCH more palatable.
Stone Cold’s bit wasn’t much better, but I did get a chuckle here and there on just how over-the-top Warrior was. Unfortunately, Ultimate Warrior’s voice performance was atrocious, sounding more like a poor man’s “Tonto” from Lone Ranger than anything resembling one of the greatest sports entertainers of all time. I do think the series captured Warrior’s randomness rather well, certainly hearkening back to the WWE Legend’s early days in WWE, however, another poor vocal performance put this one away for me.
When the producers start utilizing more and more montages, that’s an early sign of them running out of ideas. With so many characters at this show’s becking call, how we could be running out of ideas is beyond me. Vince McMahon usually is the one who carries this show on his back in terms of vocal performance, and likewise, he got all of the funniest shit to say, but it wasn’t enough to carry this episode over the hump of mediocrity, sloppy voice performances, and cliched premises.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
