Review: Craig of the Creek “Monster in the Garden”
Secret garden?
Overview (Possible Spoilers Below)
When Craig and his siblings stay with their Grandparents During a 3-day weekend, Craig is determined to catch the “Monster” that has been wreaking havoc within his Grandad’s garden.
Our Take
The heart of the episode is mostly lessons about having patience as Craig’s attempts to catch the supposed “Monster” are often rushed yet well-intentioned. Once Craig takes it upon himself to diligently keep guard, we the audience eventually figure out what exactly this Monster turns out to be when a silhouette shows it’s size and shape alone.
While Craig’s siblings may have their differences towards one-another, we do see that they all commonly share a love for their grandparents. but in different ways. I did chuckle to myself that their Grandmother’s name is “Jo-Jo” which is kind of an odd coincidence given that there’s an elderly character also named “Granny Jojo” in Amazing World of Gumball.
Some of the best moments where the episode shined for me the most, is when Craig spends time with his Grandad as we see an inventive yet practical side that Craig holds in high regard as exemplified in scenes where you see some of the stuff within his workshop along with drawing blueprints when figuring out a solution to keep his Garden untouched.
Throughout the episode, there’s decent running joke where every male of the Williams family is “always in a hurry”, but we also see Craig’s friends Kelsey & JP have Skype conversations during the course of the episode, but I couldn’t help but laugh at a scene where JP encounters two characters who look eerily similar to Craig & Kelsey that must be seen to be believed.
Overall, this was a decently paced episode with fun character moments that made me laugh in places and a twist that felt very grounded in reality but excelled at capturing a sense of child-like wonder and adventure.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
