2018 Awards: “The Breadwinner” ; “Loving Vincent” ; “The Simpsons”
Let’s get some gold!
Loving Vincent and The Breadwinner continue to rack up award nominations from various local and international outlets most notably with each film being nominated for Academy Awards this morning. Not that it’s gonna matter because Disney-Pixar routinely wins, but it’s nice to see films that are PG-13 and up actually get the noms. Not to mention that both films were directed by women so the movies are getting extra attention from gender-specific outlets and rightfully so.
Loving Vincent revolves around a mystery surrounds the death of famed painter Vincent van Gogh in 1890 France and it is the world’s first fully painted feature film produced by Oscar-
The Breadwinner revolves around Parvana who is an 11-year-old girl who lives under Taliban rule in Afghanistan in 2001. After the wrongful arrest of her father, Parvana cuts off her hair and dresses like a boy to support her family. Working alongside a friend, she soon discovers a new world of freedom and danger. Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
