Conan And Titmouse Board ‘Barry & Joe’

The heroes we need right now.

Earlier this year, an adult animated series from creator Adam Reid called Barry & Joe absolutely crushed its Kickstarter goal and now the producer is eyeing pre-production on 10-30 minute episodes that will be pitched later this year. Oh yeah, and Adam’s called in some really good backup.

Conan O’Brien’s Conaco and Titmouse studios have linked up with Adam to help produce Barry & Joe. Titmouse will be doing the animated production while Conan is coming on as an executive producer which has already worked in the past with another series called Final Space which is slated to kick off the first quarter of next year on TBS.

For those that don’t know, Barry & Joe, according to Newsweek, is a Quantum Leap-like series that takes place after Donald Trump’s inauguration. Biden goes back to different points in history to recruit an unknowing Obama, or “Barry,” over and over again as his partner to save the world. Reid styled the show’s villain, Trump, after the unseen ones of the past, like Dr. Claw in Inspector Gadget. Viewers will never see his face, only a “tiny orange hand.”

Our Take

TBS just lost one of the animated comedies they were looking to add to their 2018 slate, and this could be a GREAT replacement. That said, Comedy Central has a lot to gain from this idea as well because the network has a slew of live-action political-leaning content, leaving Barry & Joe as a great way to feed that audience. It’s gonna be a while before we see it (probably 2019), but this could be crazy.
