Review: We Bare Bears “Bear Lift”

Do you even lift, bro?

Overview (Possible Spoilers Below)

The episode begins when the Bears decide to become “Buddy Drivers” (basically “Uber Drivers” in this show’s universe) using their iconic “Stack of Bears” method to help people go to their destinations for a fee in an effort to help their friend Daryl keep his mouse pad store from financial trouble. The rest of the episode becomes a comical montage of them reaching success with their endeavor in getting the funds to help Daryl’s store as they become efficient drivers.

The suspense builds up in the 3rd act when they learn their last potential client just happens to be Daryl’s smug landlord Carl who plans to tear down Daryl’s business and ends up getting a different “Buddy driver” when the Bears turn him down. At that point, it becomes a race against time in getting to Daryl’s first before Carl but they eventually pay off Carl saving Daryl’s business but end up being fired afterward since bears aren’t considered to be a “registered vehicle”. The episode ends when the bears help Daryl promote his sale on mouse pads to help him keep business booming.

Our Take

Another fun & simple episode showing how incredibly selfless the bears are when a friend is reaching financial dark times. There were moments in the 3rd act where I cringed at how stereotypically smug Carl is as a character despite being a heartless businessman archetype. And I probably laughed the most when the show used a parodied version of Montel Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It” while promoting mouse pads of all things.
