Review: Camp Camp “Space Camp Was A Hoax”
Fake the moon landing.
Spoilers Below:
In his enthusiasm, Space Kid ends up annoying the other campers, particularly the main trio. Max asks why Space Camp honestly believes Camp Campbell will send him to space, and he cheerfully says that their brochure promised him just that. David also thinks it’s ridiculous, but panics once he realizes the brochure is filled with false advertising, including a promise to send children into space. Realizing that they could get sued, David and Gwen resolve to fake Space Kid’s experience, while Max resolves to overexpose Space Kid to everything space so he gets tired of it.
David sets up a fake moon set by the lake, as he distracts Space Kid by watching the sky. David tries to quiz Space Kid on space, but quickly realize he doesn’t have enough knowledge to keep up. As soon as David’s distracted, Max pushes Space Kid into the lake, under the excuse of it being ‘training for zero gravity’. Max continues to sabotage Space Kid, trying to make him sick. He makes Space Kid drink a bottle of sleeping medicine, which gives him hallucinations when he wakes up.
The campers drag a sick Space Kid into a makeshift rocket and whirl him around. Max interferes, cutting the ropes and sending the rocket soaring off until it crashes on an island. Bewildered, Space Kid believes he’s on the moon. Nikki and Neil approach him, dressed up as aliens, but he thinks they’re real and tries to be nice to them. Bored, Nikki kicks him back into the spaceship and across the lake. Space Kid declares that he loves space. Satisfied, David says they succeeded- right before realizing that they failed to film everything, as promised in the brochure.
Overview:
One of the more fun and creative episodes. Space Kid ends up having both a good time and a terrible time. He ends up being deathly ill but truly thinks that he went to space. Max’s meddling ended up saving the day– without it, it’s doubtful that the trick would have worked.
Everyone was pretty much working to save themselves, or for selfish reasons, but everything worked out in the end. Nobody’s plans went well, but by them failing, everything worked out in the end. It’s more pure luck than anything, but at least everyone (but Max) won.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
