Monster girls in school.
Spoilers Below:
“When All Is Said And Done, Everyone Loves Kisses”
Himeno and Nozomi kiss during script practice for the class play, and Nozomi panics. Himeno insists that she did so because her script told her to, and when they investigate, there’s a handwritten note. Himeno says her script came from Komori, and they apprehend him. Komori admits that he did so because he was originally supposed to play the prince, and he wanted a kiss. The class chews him out. Himeno, Nozomi, and Kyoko walk home together, and Nozomi is still embarrassed about the kiss. Himeno says that she usually ends up playing the princess.
The next day, the costumes and sets are all prepared. Himeno expresses some concern about the platform not being steady enough, so she asks for it to be reinforced. During the performance debut, everyone is nervous. The play goes well, but the platform breaks during the finale. Luckily, Himeno manages to notice in time and heroically saves Nozomi. The play is a massive success.
“Did You Know That a Marathon Is a Microcosm of Life?”
The class lesson begins with a brief lesson on the evolution of their world. The teacher teaches the lesson well but is watched by several people from the government. Once the lesson goes smoothly, the agents express their approval and leave.
The girls are doing a run around the neighborhood for a gym test, but Kyoko is lagging behind. Himeno offers to carry her, but she refuses, for fear of being apprehended. When the teacher comes by, she’s already taking care of another classmate, so the three girls have to walk back. Himeno offers to run ahead but nearly runs into traffic. Kyoko is exhausted and is running on fumes. Nozomi suggests that they take a shortcut back to school instead.
Later, the class rankings are posted, with Nozomi just barely passing. Her friends say that’s what happens when she doesn’t study.
Overview:
So far, this seems to be the world where natural evolution changed, and humans retained more animal characteristics. While there are a few characters that look like a true blend, most of the characters are more human-looking with added animal characteristics. All of these hybrids go to the same school and enjoy their usual high school life.
The voice acting is fine, but the story itself doesn’t seem that impressive. While I am always here for monster girls, this seems to be taking the typical anime schoolgirl route. The girls’ friendship is nice, but it doesn’t seem to be anything particularly noteworthy. While there isn’t anything wrong with the premise, so far it seems a little plain. Take away the fact that the cast is hybrids, and it’s just a regular high school slice of life story.
Hopefully, the world building and further information about the government agency watching the school will buff things up a bit more.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
