Review: Camp Camp “Bonjour Bonquisha”

Breakups are harsh.

Spoilers Below:

David is set to go out on a date, and the three kids can’t believe it. It’s revealed that David is dating Bonquisha, and Max bursts out laughing. However, before the date can begin, Bonquisha breaks up with him.

David remains distraught for the entire day, and the kids are tired of it. They plan to have Bonquisha take him back, by using a bunch of movie cliches. It doesn’t go well. Sasha, Erin, and Tabii show up and offer their help for a preorder of Flower Scout Cookies. They decide to try to make Bonquisha jealous by bringing them both to the same restaurant as the Flower Scouts flirt with David. However, when a waitress is nice to Neil, Tabii gets jealous and ends up injuring herself in the process.

The gig is up, but David says that the kids shouldn’t try to force them back together. If a relationship ends, that’s okay, because the good times you had together are still there, and maybe you can be friends one day. His words end up touching Bonquisha, as well as another patron. The patron introduces himself as Bonquisha’s new lover, and David punches him out.

Overview:

Turns out being jealous does work.

The episode was amusing overall, with a bunch of kids trying badly to navigate romances. They only know stereotypes and romance movies, so whatever they come up with is ridiculous.

David is the one with a surprisingly mature take on romances and how breakups change over time, but the episode ends up discounting a lot of maturity by putting him into a brawl instantly afterward. It ends up backtracking on whatever he said before, but short-term jealousy is a thing too, I guess.
