WB Is Shopping A Live-Action “Jetsons” Series That Nobody Asked For

Ugh….

In a bizarre turn of events, TVLine is reporting that the WB is teaming up with Gary Janetti (Family Guy) to shop a live-action adaptation of the 1960s take on The Jetsons. The Jetsons kicked off its run on ABC as the very first series broadcast in color for the network on September 23rd, 1962 in primetime before the series was eventually canceled and sent to Saturday mornings.

The series was a futuristic sendup of what life would be like for a family in the future. Concepts like being able to communicate via video, robots, and holograms are all commonplace today but seemed like foreign concepts at the time that helped America get excited about the country’s vision of space exploration following JFK’s decree to get a man on the moon by the end of the 60’s…which is exactly what happened despite what so-called “moon conspiracists” may have you believe.

In any event, if we’re going to bring back The Jetsons, it should be brought back as a primetime animated comedy just as it was, not as a live-action series that will surely sully the franchise. The DC comics are bad enough, having a TV series sounds like a quick cancellation to me.
