English Dub Review: The Silver Guardian “Suigin Inherits a Legacy!”

What is your legacy?

The Silver Guardian suffered an uneven start. Whereas it’s been an entertaining show, at times The Silver Guardian offered painfully cliche plot elements. Moreover, it’s lacked cohesion. Enter “Suigin Inherits a Legacy.” With several twists and a rapid, albeit cohesive pace, this is a huge turning point in the series.

At the conclusion of “Suigin Receives a Loss,” Rei’s father Yuuki Riku, is killed by Eru, a co-worker. It appears from the latest The Silver Guardian entry that Ling, another employee of Yuuki’s God Grave studios, is mixed up in the plot as well. Suigin visits Rei with the intention to convey his condolences. But while at her mansion, Rei gives Suigin a package from her father Yuuki. In a huge reveal, Suigin is actually Yuuki’s grandson. Additionally, Rei isn’t a blood relative. Her parents, Yuuki explains, were brutally murdered by enemies. Presumably, this centers on a plot to open a tomb that Eru and Ling murdered Yukki over. A new character, Dark Tiger, appears and the likes of Ling and Eru are followers of Dark Tiger.

I really enjoyed “Suigin Inherits a Legacy!” The narrative is pretty straightforward but also loaded with mystery. Still, a few points are unrealistic. Suigin and Rei accept that Suigin is Yuuki’s secret grandson all too quickly. Plus, I was totally expecting a Luke and Leia situation when Suigin discovered he was Yuuki’s grandson. The loophole of Rei being adopted feels a bit too convenient to continue their romance.

Nevertheless, I’m still keen to see what happens next. While after “SuiginReceives a Loss,” I was rather irked with the direction of the series and its trite storytelling, The Silver Guardian redeemed itself with a strong entry with “Suigin Inherits a Legacy.”
