English Dub Review: ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept. “Where the Bird Flies”

Anyone hoping for the military coup that was being promised for pretty much the entirety of the season is gonna be VERY disappointed. That’s because…it doesn’t happen. Apparently, Grossular, Mauve, and Jean concocted to conspire against Lilium and his family and nothing really goes down except the Prince promising not to shut down ACCA-13.

Mauve takes charge of the organization, and most of the chiefs step down and go their separate ways with the exception of Grossular who stays put as an advisor to ACCA. Lotta makes nice with the people that tried to killer her my greeting them with…what else? SANDWICH BREAD! Because what says, “Thanks for trying to kill me”, than sandwich fucking bread?

We also get a montage of each of the districts post the ceremony, Lotta and Jean keep their family heritage secret, and maybe Jean likes Mauve, it’s hard to tell because no one makes a move.

Our Take

Boy, was this a letdown. I actually had some hope that this series would’ve stepped off from the drippy drab premises of earlier episodes and that we were gonna get some good action. Unfortunately, this franchise continues to do what it does best…not give a fuck. After the scrum from the earlier part of the episode, it’s a bunch more food porn and talks about wanting to make more food porn. Then let’s throw in the montage of how the hell everyone else is doing in the other districts, like anyone’s gonna remember that after 12 weeks?

We’ll go into more detail in the season review as to what the hell is wrong with ACCA, but this episode didn’t help.
