I just want you kids that waited on a line last week for a Nintendo Switch that your gaming console will be fun four about six months before it becomes a $249 paper weight. In between the really long wait times for new games, Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aime says that while he doesn’t see Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu as differentiators when it comes to features compared to that of say Sony and Microsoft, he did say they were coming…eventually.
Our Take
Eventually, we all grow old and die. The problem here is that again, Nintendo has released a gaming system that will have little to no third party support, coupled with first party games largely derived from aging franchises. Meanwhile, Sony and Microsoft are investing in new technologies like virtual reality, with Sony being heads and shoulders the leader in this space. While Nintendo is teasing some augmented reality support, the gaming company has yet to figure out that nobody gives a shit if you can take your console with you if you have nothing to play on it.
