WGA Awards 2017 Recap: Important Notes For Animated Winners
Fuck normal.
BoJack Horseman won the WGA Award for Television Animation for its episode entitled “Stop the Presses”. How you grade one episode of a Netflix series meant to be binge-watched, I’ll never know, but we love us some BoJack, so congrats to the producers. Competitors in the space included Star Wars Rebels, The Simpsons, and Elena of Avalor.
Another award to note is the lifetime achievement award given to John Waters. While a successful producer and director in his own right, John Waters was actually the voice of “John” in the Simpsons episode “Homer’s Phobia”. Nowadays, a bunch of those jokes might seem trivial, but a premise involving Homer Simpsons trying to come to the grips with the fact that he’s pals with a gay guy was so ahead of its time when it aired and was almost not even broadcasted due to FOX being nervous about losing advertisers. The episode aired just over 20 years ago and helped open up that conversation in entertainment.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
