Review: Steven Universe “Adventures in Light Distortion”
Follow the light.
Spoilers Below
Garnet and Steven return to tell Pearl and Amethyst that Blue Diamond took Greg. After some discussion, Pearl decides that Blue Diamond may have taken Greg to Pink Diamond’s human zoo. Yes, Pink Diamond used to take humans from their families to keep in her zoo as trophies. If the zoo still exists, that may be where Greg is. But that means they have to go to space to get him back. Thankfully, they still have the Roaming Eye ship from the Ruby Squad. Peridot fixes it up and off they go, leaving Lapis, Peridot, and Connie to protect Earth while they are gone.
Unfortunately, it will take too long to simply fly to Pink Diamond’s zoo. As a result, they use the warp drive on the ship. At first, it makes Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl squish into the size of Rubies. Steven tries to fix the gravity drive but only manages to make the ship go faster. The light bodies of the Crystal Gems can’t keep up with the ship and end up dragging behind it. Once Steven gets the ship to stop, they appear back on board. Just as they reach the zoo.
While this was a decent episode, it doesn’t feel like a lot happened. Feeling responsible for Greg’s situation, Steven had a bit of an emotional breakdown. And there was a bit of humor with the Gems trying to get acclimated to the gravity inside the ship. However, this was just the trip to Pink Diamond’s zoo. I’m sure we’re about to get pummeled with action when Blue Diamond reappears. Perhaps we’ll even get to see Yellow Diamond. This is one of those times that I wish the show was a half hour instead of just fifteen minutes.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
