Review: We Bare Bears “Christmas Parties”

Time to party hard…PARTY HARD!

Spoilers Below

The bears get four invitations to four different Christmas parties on the same night. They are determined to go to every single party. To accomplish this goal, Panda sets an alarm on his phone. When the alarm goes off, they leave the party.

First up is Ranger Tabes’ party. Of course, it’s rather boring. All of the other rangers are there, sleeping or just standing around awkwardly. When the bears show up, Tabes tries to get everyone to limbo. No one is interested until the bears turn on some awesome music and force people to play. After they play a few rounds and Ice Bear wins, Panda’s alarm goes off and they have to leave.

Next, they go to Charlie’s party in his Christmas tree. He gives them eggs with Nogg written on them, rains on a deer, and asks the turkey how he’s doing. But, really, all he wants to do is find the perfect star for his tree. Before the bears can help him, Panda’s alarm goes off again and they have to leave.

Chloe’s house is next on the list. She has cooked a huge Korean meal with her mother. The bears are forced to sit at the table but, when Panda’s alarm goes off and they jump up to leave, they knock the small table over, spilling all of the food everywhere. They offer to help Chloe clean up but she tells them to just leave.

The bears’ goal was to get to Nom Nom’s party because he was giving out free puppies. However, once they are there, they quickly realize that they weren’t supposed to get an invitation to this party. Sadly, they realize that they screwed over all of the people that actually love them. And they set out to fix things.

They give the puppy from Nom Nom to Ranger Tabes, who immediately adores the dog. Charlie gets a present containing a star tree topper. Though he puts the box on the tree instead of the star. Finally, the bears sneak into Chloe’s house and recreate the huge meal for the family. The bears join the Park family for a very large Christmas breakfast.

I know that the writers wanted to create a scenario where the bears had to choose between their friends and material things but to get four invitations to four different parties all on the same day? That is rather unlikely, even for a cartoon. ANYWAY. These parties made me feel so bad for all of the bears’ friends. They all seem really lonely without the bears. It would be great if everyone could get together and have one huge party. Especially since Tabes already saw Charlie and is willing to forget her eternal search for a bigfoot. I understand why the friends aren’t friends with each other but they could all go to a party thrown by the bears. At least this episode had a good ending for everyone involved. I just hope we get to see more of the puppy in the future.
