Review: The Paranormal Action Squad “The Ghost of Christmas Presents”
It’s not really a ghost, more of a terrorizing Christmas tree.
Spoilers Below
As Paul and Eddie are looking to get a Christmas tree, an angry snowman goes after them but becomes quick work thanks to Eddie’s nose-stealing skills. The snowman melts and seeps itself into the same tree that is picked to be cut down and brought back to the PAS HQ.
As expected, the tree goes live and starts terrorizing the surrounding area. The PAS team heads out to battle with a new drone-replacement for PAD named Cy and learn that the tree is powered by electricity. To help garner enough energy to last awhile, the tree heads to a local electrical facility and fucks the building for more power. Cy takes off in fear and PAD decides to sacrifice himself so that the tree can be destroyed and we can save Christmas once-and-for-all. The tree dies but so does PAD but only momentarily. Orb ‘fixes’ PAD and the PAS team destroys Cy in a fit of Christmas cheer.
Our Take
This week’s episode of Paranormal Action Squad continues to show the growth of the franchise over time for Youtube Red. Ancillary characters like PAD get their own bits of story that flesh out and become integral parts of the show. This, my friends, is why you have a Michael Rowe because he’s been doing this for years.
I hate the fact that we pay for a streaming service that allows “Fuck” which is opposite of say a Netflix, but overall a solid week of PAS. A tree terrorizing a neighborhood and simply destroying Christmas decorations may seem just like a minor annoyance causing people to have to go and get replacements at Target and whatnot, but the show did a good job of substantiating how crazy this tree could have been had it not been for our heroes. Unfortunately, other the crew beating the shit out of Cy (played by noted vlogger Tom Cassell), I didn’t think there was a TON in the jokes department. Fortunately, the more adventurous part of the episode won out and helped deliver a solid effort.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
