Review: RWBY Vol.4 – Chapter 6 “Tipping Point”
It’s been four episodes in this season since they did anything new with Weiss but this episode did the impossible with her…
Overview
This chapter really shines the light on Weiss and why she is the way she is. They’ve alluded to it in the past but seeing the world that surrounds her really makes you understand what goes on in her head. It’s even worse now that she’s sort-of seen more of the world and now has been forced back into this upper-class oppressive environment that she obviously tried to escape. It’s easy to imagine that Winter had to go through the same bullshit so it’s no surprise why she chose to break away and serve under Ironwood.
I honestly love how Weiss was done with everybody’s shit, and how her anger manifested a Boarbatusk to lash out at that blonde cunt. I mean, I’m pretty sure it was unintentional, but damn. That’s one heck of a way to unleash her repressed anger at everyone.
Although we have only seen him twice, this volume has gotten me to like Ironwood a lot more than I did in the in Volume 3. It’s refreshing that’s he is being defensive of Weiss and really surprising to see his disdain towards Atlas, considering he’s in charge of its military forces.
I really can’t wait for Weiss to have to deal with the fallout of what she did. Ever since her talk with Winter in “Lessons Learned“, I wanted her at some point to yell at her father and fight for her independence and individuality as her sister did. I feel these are the things that matter to Weiss even though they don’t matter to the Schnee’s since they seem to care more about preserving a reputation than being themselves. (The typical “rich-person” cliche you see in family films like What a Girl Wants.)
You can argue that the main protagonists are only weak and powerless whenever the story demands it but killing Pyrrha was quite possibly the best thing the writers could have done for this series. It sucks she died, yes, but it shows the gravity of the situation. These villains have no moral restraints and aren’t low-level thugs like Torchwick & Neo, they are willing and able to hurt, maim, and even kill the protagonists. This volume has kept me on the edge of my seat with every fight, not just because the fights are getting more entertainingly intricate & complex, but because I’m legitimately afraid of what will happen if the heroes lose the fight.
If they wanted to leave us hanging with this midseason finale, they kinda succeeded. I give it a higher rating because it did the impossible and actually made me like Weiss more. 🙂
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
