Review: Legends of Chamberlain Heights “More Than a Videogame”
Do you got game?
Spoilers Below
Jamal and Milk get scouted for a basketball camp….kinda…actually it’s a “benchwarmer camp”. Players have to learn all the important features of being a benchwarmer including ass stretches, getting hologram visits from famous benchwarmers, and more. After a while, Milk gets annoyed and decides to start playing bball instead of just sitting around all friggin’ day. The whole benchwarmers class follows suit but the guy running the class already made off with the checks.
Meanwhile, Grover learns about a video game tourney and enters to kick Montrel’s ass. While he’s not great he’s getting help from the game store’s security dude LaDante who may have ulterior motives in training Grover. Unfortunately, when Grover heads over LaDante’s house for his final lesson, his teacher has a mental breakdown.
Malik and his pals decide to turn the video game tourney into a gambling bracket and convinces Montrel to bow out so that everyone can cash out. As a result, Montrel decides to coach up Grover in the finals but he ends up losing anyway to Suzy. Fortunately, Montrel is able to rob the bitch and claim the prizes as his own.
Our Take
While I wasn’t crazy about the fact that we had two distinct plots all about training for a specific field of play, this week’s episode was just too hilarious to let up. I nearly threw up during the scenes featuring Grover popping zits off of LaDante’s back, and as a die-hard Celtics fan, mad props to the producers in their homage to the greats of the game…even if they were on the bench. I would have liked to have seen a little more depth in Malik’s contribution to the episode, but overall a solid outing.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
