Review: Star Wars Rebels “The Wynkahthu Job”
It’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it.
Spoilers Below
Ezra has convinced the Rebels to once again, work with the pirate Hondo. This time around, Azmorigan is also involved in the scheme. The scheme is the ransacking of an abandoned Imperial freighter. Unfortunately, the ship is stuck in an atmospheric storm surrounding the planet Wynkahthu. But the ship is carrying some valuable cargo, including some proton bombs that the Rebels desperately need. Hondo has the ship’s location and Azmorigan has the ship’s manifest. So, even though Hera despises Azmorigan (for good reason), they need to all work together to retrieve the cargo. Hera puts Zeb in charge of the mission, annoying Ezra to no end.
The team, consisting of Zeb, Ezra, Chopper, Hondo, and Azmorigan, manage to get on the freighter safely. They even manage to get to the cargo hold without too many problems. Though they do find out that Hondo was the one that originally attacked this ship, getting it stuck in the storm. His crew wanted to try to retrieve the cargo but Hondo and Azmorigan abandoned them to get help from the Rebels. Melch, one of Hondo’s crew members, attacks Hondo before eventually joining the group. After Hondo doubles his payment, anyway.
Once the group gets to the cargo hold, Hondo and Azmorigan argue over who is getting what treasure. Zeb focuses on getting the proton bombs back to Sabine on the Ghost. At some point, Azmorigan decides to go to the back of the hold to get the “better” treasure, leaving Hondo to the stuff at the front. Chopper opens the cargo hold door so Zeb can winch their stolen goods over to Sabine.
As the storm gets worse, Hera tells Zeb they need to leave the freighter. But Azmorigan is missing. Zeb leaves Ezra to finish moving the cargo while he gets the fat little man. Which is when Zeb runs into a sentry droid and gets knocked out. He wakes up in a holding cell, next to Azmorigan. Ezra and Chopper head off to find the pair while Hondo and Melch load more cargo. Of course, Ezra easily frees Zeb and Azmorigan but they still have to deal with the droid. Zeb suggests they let the droid pass them but Azmorigan freaks out and blasts the thing to pieces. Well, this wakes up the rest of the sentries. Now there are four of them to deal with.
Hondo and Azmorigan ride some cargo across the storm, landing safely in the Ghost. Chopper makes a break for it and flies himself across the void. Zeb and Ezra jump onto the last set of proton bombs but they are still being attacked by the droids. The droids shoot the crane holding the winch, breaking the line. The two Rebels fall into the storm until Zeb grabs the broken line. They crawl up the wire, back into safety as the Imperial ship crashes into the storm.
Back on the Ghost, Hera congratulates everyone for a job well done. Hondo and Azmorigan, once again, begin fighting over the treasure since there is only one cargo box to split between them. Little did they know that the box only contained Melch. According to Azmorigan, this means he is entitled to 50 percent of the Ugnaught.
It’s been awhile since we’ve had a good Rebel episode. Lately, the show has focused on saving family members or recruiting new people into the Rebellion. Every time they go on some sort of salvage mission, they get distracted by something else. This was a decent throwback to the good old days when the Ghost crew spent their time stealing as much as they could to keep going. Granted, I could do without Hondo or Azmorigan but they weren’t too awful this time around.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
