Review: Star Wars Rebels “Imperial Supercommandos”

We’re super, thanks for asking.

Spoilers Below

Sabine attempts to convince Fenn Rau to join the Rebels with his Mandalorian Protectors but he continually refuses. When the Rebels lose contact with the Protectors, Sabine, Ezra, Chopper, and Fenn return to Mandalore. On their way, Fenn breaks out of his handcuffs, knocks Sabine and Ezra out, and steals their weapons. Unfortunately, Finn didn’t know that all of the Protectors were killed by traitor Mandalorians that joined the Empire. Those Mandalorians attack the group and end up capturing Ezra and Chopper. Without his lightsaber, Ezra tries to lie his way out of the situation. He fails miserably. Multiple times. And Sabine has trouble convincing Fenn to help her save them until they overhear Gar Saxon, the leader of the traitors, confess that he would have killed Fenn if he was with the other Protectors. Realizing that the Rebels are his only way off planet, he agrees to help Sabine.

Once they rescue Ezra and Chopper, Fenn takes off in the Phantom 2, leaving the Rebels behind. After a jet-pack-fueled flight through a nearby canyon, Fenn returns to save the group. He takes out the Imperial Mandalorians’ ship and heads off into space. That is when he realizes that Sabine hasn’t betrayed the way of the Mandalorians. And that solidifies his resolve to help the Rebels.

The Mandalorians are back again. They really are an interesting, yet violent, race. Of course, that means that jet-pack fight was pretty amazing. Since Ezra can’t fly, Sabine carried him for most of the fight. Until he fell on top of Chopper and surfed him the rest of the way. I would love to see more of that type of fighting in the series. It would also be nice to see the Rebels on the attack a bit more. So far, they seem to be doing an awful lot of defending. We need to get back to season 1 Rebels.
