Shorts Review: RWBY Chibi Episode 22

This episode was 4 mins and 11 seconds long with zero promo ads.

“Game Night”

The skit begins when Team JNPR are bored out of their minds to the point that Nora is cartoonishly pounding Ren’s head in with her hammer until Jaune shows up asking if they’re bored.

Nora responds that she needs to be entertained or “Her brain turns to oatmeal, The Bland kind, Not the kind with sprinkles.” And now says she’s “bored and hungry” just from making that sentence. (ok that made me chuckle. 😛 )

Jaune Suggests they play a board game which at first excites Nora, But when Jaune unravels it, It’s revealed to be a farmer-themed game called “Compost King”. where the winner is decided by how much mulch you attain making you the titular “compost king”.

Understandably, Phyrra and Ren are unsure if this game is fun since farming is “the opposite of super-fun” by their standards and Jaune assures them it’s a game that the game is fun and can last long periods of time because the “mulching happens in real time”.

Ren, Nora and Phyrra decide to do something random and ridiculous with the game pieces much to Jaune’s annoyance by making up a scenario that involves “Fighting aliens who are kidnapping cows”.

That is until Jaune gets excited when Nora says “Compost” is the aliens’ weakness and ends up having fun with them.

Phyrra compliments Jaune saying board games were a great idea and the skit ends.

“Security Woes”

Cinder and her Teen Brigade proceed to go through a metal detection test and while Cinder and Emerald are free to go, Mercury isn’t due to his mechanical legs he’s hiding under his baggy pants. 😛

He goes through an x-ray showing his robot legs through the machine and the shopkeeper (who for some reason is airport security.) shakes his head in disappointment implying he can’t go and the skit ends.

The skit wasn’t bad but pretty predictable for people who already knew the twist regarding Mercury’s artificial legs in Vol.3 which is my only major complaint. lol

“Floor is Lava”

Weiss opens a door but is told “Wait!!” from Ruby who is playing that Hot Lava game and Weiss is understandably annoyed by this. 😛

Ruby stays in character while still playing the game saying “it’s a matter of life and death” while Blake is casually relaxing and reading a book at the top-bunk of her bed.

Ruby tries to tell her to use “Parkour” and Gymnastics” and Weiss straight up uses her Glyph Powers to glide herself to the bottom bunk of the bed and Ruby thinks that’s just cheating. (HA!)

Ruby Ends up trying to pull this trick on Yang this time but Yang launches herself up next to Blake’s bed using the recoil and impact of her Ember Celica Gauntlets to launch herself next to Blake.

Oddly enough, Roman Torchwick shows up at Team RWBY’s dorm proclaiming that they will “meet their makers” and Ruby ends up trying this “Floor is Lava” game on him this time

She warms him not to step further due to the “Lava” and Torchwick isn’t the type who plays games and says to Ruby “I”m killing you first!” and when he takes a step into the floor, this happens…

Much to the shock of Team RWBY, he legitimately melts into the ground like a ghost phasing through a solid object except his bowler-hat for some reason. (WTF?!)

Everyone is understandably shocked at this and Ruby shrugs it off saying “I tried to warn him” and the Skit ends.

With Weiss, I first thought about how I used to play the game as a kid.

With Yang, I thought,”I wonder if the floor is going to actually be made of lava.”

With Roman, I thought,”OMG, the floor is actually going to be made of lava!”

To be honest, I think every episode should end with a ‘Roman scheme’ which results in his apparent death only to re-appear next episode. Haha
