Review: Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors “Spider Slayers – Part 2”

Doc Ock is back!!!!

Spider-Man, Scarlet Spider, and Doc Ock head to Hydra island so as to discover the origins of Scarlet Spider. We come to find out that Ben Reilly is really a synthezoid, but made with two parts Peter Parker, hence the reason he keeps having a personal conflict as to what his true purpose is. While we head into the island, we get into a big battle with a number of Spider Slayers controlled by Arnim Zola. Doc Ock gets younger (and WAY more correct on the character design) and helps out, but eventually, Zola shows up to join the battle. Doc Ock leaves and Scarlet Spider comes close to turning on Peter Parker, but the Web Warriors show up, help turn Scarlet Spider in the right direction, and even learn that the latter can even control the Spider-Slayers. The Web Warriors defeat Zola, and head out…but for what?

Our Take

So with the web warriors now something like 15 members strong, including two symbiotes and four synthezoids, my only guess is we’re gearing up for a battle with Doc Ock as per the ending, but that hasn’t really been confirmed. That said, I had a lot of fun with the Spider-Slayers, despite that some of the characters were rather silly in nature. For example, we had a Spider Slayer that certainly filled the role of say Hulk and a bunch of other strong dudes, and Agent Venom and Spider-Woman will always continue to be thorns in my side. Fortunately, Doc Ock is mostly fixed (the glasses bother me), and we could be gearing up for a killer third part.
