Review: Bob’s Burgers “Teen-a Witch”
If you read this, we will cast a spell on you.
Spoilers Below
Tina is determined to win the Halloween costume contest at school. Since she (stupidly) talked about her plans in public, Jocelyn stole her “Hot Mess” idea. At lunch, she decides that she will be a “Sand-Witch” instead. So she goes to the library to do some research on witches. Mr. Ambrose schools her on real witches and gives her a spellbook. That night, Tina casts a few spells. One to help her win the costume contest, one to make Jimmy Junior love her, one that will make fish sticks the lunch day (for Gene), and one that will get Louise out of a quiz. All of the spells, except the costume contest one, comes true the next day. With her new-found power, Tina starts to get cocky. She even threatens the school crossing guard. Well, it turns out that she is also a witch. She curses Tina, making the poor girl paranoid. Eventually, Tina realizes that her spells were pretty much coincidences and most of her new-found power was just confidence. Tina apologizes to the crossing guard, who reverses her curse. And, no, Tina did not win the costume contest.
While the kids were off playing with magic, Bob was busy carving pumpkins. Each time Bob carved a pumpkin and put it outside the store, it would disappear. At first, Bob thought it was Jimmy Pesto. But he was wrong. After four lost pumpkins, Bob finds out that Mr. Fischoeder has been collecting all of the jack-o-lanterns on the street every night. Along with all of the bicycles. For some reason, the old man thought they were left out for him. The Belchers go out to Fischoeder’s house to see the massive amount of jack-o-lanterns. Then Mr. Fischoeder makes Bob pay five dollars to have a picture of his kids with his pumpkins!
Even though I enjoyed the episode, I expected some references to the very awesome 80s movie “Teen Witch.” Maybe a creepy little friend to help Tina learn about her powers or maybe she got an amulet that gave her powers or maybe even just a reference to the infamous “Top That” song from the movie. Alas, none of these appeared. Despite the lack of “Teen Witch”-iness, it was still a fun episode.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
