Review: South Park “Skank Hunt”
That’s Skank right there…Skank’s dead…
Spoilers Below
The second episode of the new season of South Park certainly didn’t disappoint. Although there weren’t many really big laughs, there certainly were a couple good chuckles along the way.
I feel like “Skank Hunt” was definitely a necessary episode– there were some seriously dark overtones throughout. There is also some very harsh satire as we’ve come to know and love from South Park Studios, along with some really unique themes.
The episode reminded me some of “Smug”, with the scenes with Gerald, and there were of course references to last week’s episode, “Member Berries“. However, I think the way the arc is being written is kinda cool this season. The continuity is there, but it’s not too heavy handed.
“Skank Hunt” really centers around the girls’ anger, as the troll is still loose online. Worse and worse things keep getting posted, and several children want to give up, just quit….social media. The social media thing is clearly a hot button for Matt and Trey, as neither are on Twitter or Instagram.
Throughout it all, the boys still think Cartman’s to blame, and there are some really crazy sequences– dramatic ones, especially at the end. The episode was so enthralling, really, I was surprised when it was over and wanted more. I’m really interested to see what happens next week- I feel like some really big things are being set up. I don’t think the season has truly hit its stride.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
