TCA2016: Animation on FOX News Round-Up
Zorn, Schumer, and a whole lot more!
I looked everywhere for my invite to the Simpsons breakfast, but alas I couldn’t find it. Fortunately, FOX served up some rather stellar news for this Fall’s returning slate of animated comedies plus Son of Zorn and here’s what we got:
- Son of Zorn is getting an earlier premiere date of September 11th, 2016 @ 8 pm ET/PT after the NFL double-header and quite honestly why the hell not? FOX has promoting the bejesus out of this show for a while, so putting this series on after a major weekend of sports should be a great way to get a lot of eyeballs (that’s actually how FOX premiered American Dad! via after the Super Bowl). Plus, we’re getting another new episode of Son of Zorn that is entitled “Defender of Teen Love.” In it, Zorn’s gotta move his shit out of Edie’s house and try to be a male role model as his son Alan tries to chase a girl.
- On September 25th, FOX is doing a three-way with Amy Schumer. That’s because Amy will be guest-starring on all-new episodes of Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, and Family Guy playing three different characters. According to Deadline, in Bob’s Burgers she’ll play a customer in the toy shop where Bob (H. Jon Benjamin) and Teddy (Larry Murphy) go to replace Louise’s (Kristen Schaal) toy that was accidentally melted. In The Simpsons she’ll play Mr. Burns (Harry Shearer) mother; and in Family Guy she’ll voice a construction worker. All three series premiere on September 25: Bob’s Burgers at 7:30 PM/6:30 PM CDT, followed by The Simpsons at 8 PM/7 PM CDT, and Family Guy at 9:30 PM/8:30 PM CDT on Fox.
- Last but not least, The Simpsons will be airing an HOUR LONG episode sometime in January featuring guest stars Keegan-Michael Key and Taraji P. Henson. The episode is set to be an homage to The Great Gatsby but with a hip-hop flare to it.
Again, Son of Zorn is slowly becoming the new pearl of the clam that is FOX’s Sunday Night lineup, however today’s TCA panels for Animation on FOX was even busier than the panels at San Diego Comic Con.
Btw, anyone watching Animation on FOX via Hulu for free better pay up because Hulu is going subscription-only.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
