Review: Steven Universe “Kindergarten Kid”
No Arnold or Dolph unfortunately.
Spoilers Below
Garnet, Amethyst, Pearl, Peridot, and Steven go back to the Beta Kindergarten to take care of the corrupted gems Jasper had caged. Since Peridot keeps telling them how easy it is to bubble a monster, the Crystal Gems leave her to capture the last corrupted gem on her own. Well, not entirely on her own. Steven decides to stay behind with her. He’s more concerned about the corrupted gem than he is about Peridot.
Much like Wile E. Coyote, Peridot comes up with a number of Peri Plans to capture the corrupted gem. And much like the Roadrunner, the monster continually evades all of Peridot’s traps. Eventually, Steven gets Peridot to think like the creature. Though that doesn’t work particularly well either. Peridot does manage to get a hold of the monster as it runs around crazily. The two fall off the edge of a cliff, resulting in Peridot finally getting the corrupted gem.
Garnet reveals that the Crystal Gems never really left Steven and Peridot alone. They watched the entire time. Peridot bubbles the corrupted gem and sends it home. Which just happens to be the barn where Peridot and Lapis live.
This was an interesting beginning to season four. I love when Peridot is knocked down a notch. She always thinks she’s the best because she’s a Homeworld gem but she’s not. We also got to see that Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl didn’t actually leave them alone and, most likely, would have stepped in if something truly bad happened. That shows that they are sort of thinking of Peridot as part of the team. Now if only Lapis will join in.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
