Comics Review: Rick and Morty #17
Maybe the best week of comics we’ve ever had.
Spoilers Below
The one thing that really, and I mean, REALLY gets under my skin about comics inspired by adult animated series, is that a show that normally gets to use crass language, even if censored, just completely cheeses up the execution of censored dialogue in print. For example, the feature story tries to dance around a bunch of four letter words with literal “Bleeps” which isn’t the way I would do it. I would MUCH prefer the way “Jerry Decode Model”did things with its crass dialogue.
That said…Issue #17 is by far one of the funniest, and I mean, FUNNIEST, Rick and Morty comics to come out in quite some time. I found myself really enjoying Rick inflicting an illness on his grandson for leverage in a high-profiled separation. Oh, and how about a gun that turns appliances into sentient gadgets? OR A JERRY THAT ACTUALLY GIVES A SHIT! “Jerry Decode Model” was excellent, but really this whole issue is very strong.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
