Blu-Ray Review: Batman: The Killing Joke
Should you bring this shit home?
To get a review of the film go here, rather this is a breakdown of the special features on the home release of Batman: The Killing Joke:
Batman: The Killing Joke: The Many Shades of The Joker: A nice 20-minute documentary of the sociological and psychological elements of what makes the Joker…the Joker. It includes obvious comparisons of The Killing Joke’s source material to the animated adaptation of the same name with excellent commentaries from all involved with the exception of Brian Azzarello whom is nowhere to be found and with good reason.
Madness Set to Music: Really the only piece that features some insight from Mark Hamill, we go behind-the-scenes in a fascinating tale on how the music soundtrack came together for Batman: The Killing Joke included an inside look at the production of Joker’s Broadway-inspired show tune at the climax of the film. Pretty fascinating stuff.
Other Features
A lot of filler for the most part. Trailers to old and new DC Animated films, old episodes of Batman: The Animated Series, etc.
Our Take
Overall, the features included in the home release of Batman: The Killing Joke are fantastic, but few and far between. I don’t care about trailers and old episodes, and I would’ve loved to have heard more on how Azzarello screwed up the prelude to the greatest graphic novel of all time. Oh yea, and what’s Alan Moore’s take on it?
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
