SEASON REVIEW: Mr. Pickles Season 2

It’s a bit of a bumpy road, this season.

I’m going to start this review by giving a pro and a con to this show. A pro is that the show knows its audience. Mr. Pickles knows how to impress the group of “Look at how crazy this show is dude! That dog just sliced that person’s head open!” fans. Now, the con that also fits into the equation, is that the show doesn’t fully commit to appeasing those fans. Most of the episodes can be viewed out of order and without much back story, which is the way that I believe would be in the best interest for it, but a few expect the viewer to be familiar with past episodes. Personally, if every episode was it’s own show, without trying to make connections in a story arch, I think it would flow a lot better. Mr. Pickles should take the Superjail route and just go crazy and not worry about tying plot points together between the finales and premieres.

Now that we have taken care of that, the season was a little bit better than “meh.” There were both ups and downs, like most shows, but only 3 episodes that I would consider “great.” The rest are mediocre and sub-par. The first season was better in my opinion because it was fresh and original but season 2 felt rehashed and desperate at times to provide an unnecessary story arch. One thing is definitely certain: Scooby Doo would be rolling in his doggie grave if he watched this show.
