Review: Steven Universe “Kiki’s Pizza Service Delivery”

Order’s up!

Spoilers Below

For the past two weeks, Jenny has been skipping work at Fish Stew Pizza, leaving Kiki to do all the work for her. As a result, Kiki has been having some pretty vicious pizza-related nightmares. One night, Steven accidentally enters Kiki’s dream. He saves the nice twin from some huge cheesy fists. The next morning, Kiki admits to Steven that she has been having these pizza nightmares for the past two weeks. Eager to help his friend sleep, Steven agrees to be her dream hero. However, after a few days, Steven is too tired to function. He decides that they need to get to the root of the problem. That night, Steven and Kiki figure out that the problem is Kiki always covering for Jenny. Kiki finally confronts her twin and gets a much deserved day off. Now Steven can sleep too.

As a fan of Studio Ghibli movies, I was excited at the prospect of a Kiki’s Delivery Service homage. Unfortunately, the only similarity was the character name. Anyway, this is yet another episode where Steven accidentally enters someone else’s dream. It’s a little worrying that he does this so easily and so often. It’s also a little worrying that Kiki has no real problem with it. I hope that, somewhere down the line, there is some sort of consequence of Steven barging into other people’s heads, intentional or not. He really needs to learn how to control that power.
