Comics Review: Simpsons Illustrated #24

Cool off with a full review of the latest Illustrated.

Spoilers Below

“In the Swim”

Homer has to swim the Springfield channel but gets into a fight with a killer whale. He’s able to swim across the channel and save his job all the while the whale is preoccupied with a huge carrot that gets thrown in the ocean.

Meanwhile, Lisa becomes a mascot for a vegetable restaurant, but quits because it’s a lot of hard work and the outfit gets wet easily.

“I.C.S.I”

The kids investigate who stole an ice cream truck. We come to find out it was Frink whom was just borrowing the truck for a new invention that would help everyone cool off on a hot summer day.

“Moron Kombat”

Bart’s psyche is able to use game commands and translate those to actual moves into real fights…that is until one of those moves is projectile-based. Kearny subsequently beats the hell out of Bart.

“Heatie Jeebies”

Homer tries to get a cool treat but the kids are in the fridge and everything is melted and made a mess.

Our Take

It’s a hot summer, so why not an issue where more than half is about staying cool in the heat? This makes for a solid issue that doubles as a hand-fan when you’re done.
