Review: Wander Over Yonder “The Sick Day / The Sky Guy”
Take some aspirin, then read this review.
Spoilers Below
“The Sick Day
Wander’s sick and Sylvia’s trying her best to keep him home, but Wander’s a pain in the ass and refuses to listen. Sylvia opts to help out everyone that Wander usually helps which ends with a big turtle with powers to end the universe. Sylvia makes fast friends with the turtle whom casts a spell on Wander thereby making him better.
Our Take
Wander sick makes for an interesting character design, and I gotta say, I loved watched the progression of Wander’s look as the episode ran. Other than that, we got a bunch of Sylvia in a montage making for an incredibly easy episode to swallow.
Score
The Sky Guy”
Wander and Sylvia visit a consignment shop ran by a wizard to look for a one-time use weapon that could potentially relocate Dominator to a completely different place in the universe. Unfortunately, Wander ruins it by becoming fascinated with the citizens of a really small planet that is being sold at the shop and getting into a big whole ordeal with the wizard which ends with the aforementioned weapon being used on the small planet leaving Sylvia and Wonder on a mission to find something else that can stop Dominator.
Our Take
I liked this episode a lot better due to the fact that the lighting effects and choreography in the battle between the wizard and Wander were really well done. That said, the wizard’s personality seemed like a diminutive take on The Simpsons’ Comic Book Guy, and the micro-people reminded me of Nintendo’s Pikmin. Taking all that into consideration, we DID get some progression on the battle against Lord Dominator, and that’s something we’ve been lacking as of late.
Score
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
