Review: Camp WWE “Not Without My Eyebrow”
Spoilers Below
The Rock is in the house, but a mystery befuddles the camp when we learn that someone has shaved the People’s Eyebrow while the poor bastard was asleep. Stone Cold, Undertaker, one of the Bellas, Big Show, Cena, and R-Truth are sent to detention until someone fesses up, and everyone is in danger of being expelled if Vince McMahon doesn’t get an answer soon.
The Rock is all screwed up without his eyebrow, so Ric tries to help him get back to normal. Vinnie Mac, meanwhile, wants to exploit the other campers for cash.
Eventually, John Cena is found as the culprit of shaving the Rock’s eyebrow. Just as Cena is going to be thrown out of the camp, the Rock shows up and cuts a promo on true confidence coming from within, thereby saving Cena from banishment.
Our Take
This week’s episode of Camp WWE shouldn’t raise many eyebrows, instead, it should be a good template on how the other episodes are done. Yes, I know Vince McMahon and Ric Flair are awesome, but as mentioned in the premiere review, for this show to really take off it’s gonna need it’s kids and this week the episode delivered just that. We got to spend a whole heck of a lot more time with Taker, Bella, Austin, Show, and others as compared to last week. Hell, we even got our first glimpses at Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and more, though mostly in non-speaking roles.
Vince and Ric’s plots were not nearly as bulked up as last week, and that could be a tussle moving forward in the ‘which established voice carries the episode this week’ category, but Vince was again the funniest of the bunch (his twirly slide gag got me every time). In terms of the kids, Steve Austin’s starting to grow on me, and I thought the Rock started off the episode really strong until he turned into John Cena (whiny and annoying) half-way through. Speaking of Cena, instead of admitting the act, I would’ve liked to have seen a flash back scene that actually showed John Cena shaving the Rock’s eyebrow so as to show specifically how the crime went down. I also think we didn’t get a great reason as to why he committed the crime in the first place.
While not as strong as the first episode of Camp WWE in terms of jokes and gags, episode two does a better job of setting a figurative table with more ingredients that we hope will turn into delicious meals later.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
