Comics Review: Simpsons Comics #229

Dig a little deeper into the Simpsons cast in this month’s issue.

Spoilers Below

Itchy & Scratchy Live!

A live adaptation of Itchy & Scratchy is in town and Krusty needs a fill-in for Itchy so he runs a contest where the kid with the most knowledge of the popular cartoon wins the part. Bart wins, but finds out that “Krusty” is actually Sideshow Bob and is able to fool the son of a bitch into an arrest.

The Moe and Otto Switcheroo

Moe and Otto switch jobs, and everything goes great until Bart lets Moe know of the open bar tab that’s out there for Homer. Otto is subsequently kicked out of Moe’s and switches with Dr. Hibbert which doesn’t go quite as well.

Our Take

Can you remember an issue of Simpsons Comics that had very little mention of Homer and Marge in it? Well, now you’ve got one! This week, we get to spend more time with ancillary characters like Moe, Otto, and Sideshow Bob than anything else, and it works because we get a refreshing change of pace. Nice issue.
