Review: Mr. Pickles “Cops and Robbers”
It’s still too early to tell, but judging by the the first two episodes of the second season, Mr.Pickles doesn’t seem to have that same originality that the first season had. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still the same show, but it feels like the show hasn’t really advanced forward even though the wait between seasons was nearly two years.
Tommy and Mr.Pickles head out to the park one particularly lovely morning in Old Town. What do they find? They find a little person, who, as the sheriff keeps calling, “a mijet.” This paves the way for the little person’s anger to get the best of him as steam practically shoots out of his ears every time he hears the dreaded “m word.” Tommy and Mr. Pickles decide to play cops and robbers with the little person that is undertaking the disguise of a child so he can rob banks. Tommy is oblivious to the crime spree that they undergo as he thinks they are just having pretend fun.
Coincidentally, as the little person and Tommy are robbing banks, Tommy’s father, Stanley has his very own side-story that I actually found more entertaining than the main story. Depressed because he can’t sell fake windows, he goes crazy in the town’s bar while repeatedly hitting himself on the head with a hammer. The two stories merge as the little person is eventually chased down by Tommy, who still thinks that they are playing a game. He gets trapped in the bar, so he goes for escape plan C. Plan C consists of jumping through the bar’s window. Luckily, one of Stanley’s fake windows stops the little person, giving Stanley motivation again for his recently brain-damaged life.
This episode is the definition of mediocre. Not good, and not bad, just humdrum. As a side note, this may have been the episode with the least amount of violence in the entire series, so far. Less than 5 people died, which is uncommon for an episode of Mr. Pickles. Tommy’s cheerful attitude mixed with his naivety is always pretty funny, but not enough to carry the episode. There was just nothing that stood out as being particularly funny and worthy of a good score.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
