Review: Bordertown – Wildfire (S1Ep10)

As a wildfire caused Mexifornia to evacuate, Bud decided to stay and ride out the blaze in his house. A small flame danced through the air before it landed on fluids leaking from his car. This set off a massive chain of events that ultimately set the Buckwald’s house on fire with Bud still inside. Ernesto watched it all unfold on television and immediately leapt into action. He ran into the smoke-filled house only to find Bud unconscious in his chair. Ernesto quickly carried him out of the house like a suitcase and then performed CPR. This caused Bud to survive the incident with the side effect of seeing Ernesto as his best friend.

JC and Becky decided to date other people to see how strong their relationship was. As they prepared to go out, Becky was dressed in camouflage because she was “huntin’ scrote.” She was later seen out to dinner with a guy while JC struck out more times than Reggie Jackson.
I caught two scenes that looked extremely similar to Family Guy episodes. The first one was while Bud was poking the dead guy with a stick with Ernesto next to him. It was reminiscent of Chris poking a dead body with a stick while Sam stood next to him (S3Ep12: To Love and Die in Dixie). The second scene was when there was a Mexican “whose only English he knows is off CSI.” This is straight out of Family Guy (S2Ep13: Road to Rhode Island) when Brian and Stewie are on a train trying to speak Spanish and the Mexican can only speak two English sentences; one translating Brian’s poor Spanish and then a follow-up sentence explaining that that’s the only English he knows.

Not the best episode.
