Review: American Dad! “Widow’s Pique” (S13Ep13)
The new episode of American Dad! entitled “Widow’s Pique” had a TON of laughs, and contained what I felt was some pretty solid writing. The episode starts out with Francine and Roger pretending to be widows while Stan is away, in order to get free stuff. Meanwhile, Steve, Snot, Toshi and Barry set up a ring in the Smith basement to do some wrestling (with Klaus as announcer). Also, Hayley is talking with the Direct TV people (what does Seth MacFarlane have with Direct TV?)
The Francine and Roger plot is hilarious- truly messed up– they get free meat, tacos, test drive a Lamborghini, and even attend a real widow’s support group when Francine starts to feel bad about it all. She realizes she’s most worried about losing Stan, and finds work at a diner.
Meanwhile, the boys encounter Principal Lewis, and Hayley’s phone relationship goes all over the place. (Where is Jeff?) Also, Roger begins work at a marketing company. Really a cohesive and funny episode — even the cold open with Stan in drag is hilarious. Basically, the only reason I wouldn’t give “Widow’s Pique” a perfect score is what I felt to be a slight lag to the story in the middle.
But, like many American Dad! episodes, the end hit home– we have an insane vomit scene, and Roger’s final line is one for the books. Killer stuff.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
