Trailer Breakdown: Sausage Party Red-Band

Yesterday the first full-length trailer for Seth Rogen’s Sausage Party released much to the delight of all of whom has seen it thus far, and we decided to break it down and really showcase what we’re seeing here.

Yes…red-band. This trailer from the get-go establishes itself as a CG animated film but for adults. With Anomalisa proving that adult animation can get serious looks from awards judges, Sausage Party looks to go the South Park route and use animation to display scenes that quite simply can not be done in live-action. What would the alternative be? Jonah Hill dressed as a sausage?

  The premise of the movie revolves around a bunch of food at the grocery store hoping to get ‘chosen’ by shoppers…

Unfortunately, when the groceries get home they learn the horror why food is chosen…to be eaten. They learn this while spotting a few carrots running for their lives only to be captured and crunched on much to the dismay of the other foods in the kitchen. Also, judging by the carrots rolling off of the side of the counter, the food will have Toy Story-esque sensibilities in that when people are looking at them they appear to be food, but when turned around the food comes to life and interact with other foods about whatever the hell is going on.

The cast for Sausage Party is rather impressive as we can see here (from left to right) Kristen Wiig is a hot dog bun, on the far right we’ve got Salma Hayek as a taco. Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, and Anders Holm each play sausages.
