Review: Kirby Buckets “Oh, Bros, Where Art Thou?”
Spoilers Below
Mitchell catches Kirby, Eli, and Fish in a prank, so he decides to hand down a punishment that’s so severe, it hurts…a parent-teacher conference. Fish and Eli try to get out of it by hiring actors, but Mitchell calls the real parents whom tell each of their kids that they can no longer hang out with Kirby and even fasten ankle bracelets that beep whenever they are close to Kirby.
After a while, Eli and Fish are actually doing better at school, but they are both bored as hell and want Kirby back as their friend. To stave off their boredom, they play in a dumpster that gets taken away by a garbage truck. It isn’t long before their parents head to Kirby’s house looking for their kids, but Kirby hasn’t a clue where Fish and Eli went.
Kirby heads to the S&P and follows a trail that leads right to the dumpster where Fish and Eli are. He falls in and the three come up with a way to get out. When Eli and Fish’s parents find out the troubles that Kirby went to, they decide to lift the hang out ban on one condition…
Meanwhile, Dawn and Belinda are trying to run away from a bounty hunting dentist whom eventually catches Dawn and gets her bad tooth. Belinda is still at large.
Our Take
Dawn’s plot was kind of throw-a-way, but Kirby’s plot was pretty good. For starters, Debra Wilson is Fish’s mom and that’s awesome. The garbage truck set I thought was a bit sloppy, and poorly directed. Like there’s this scene where just as Kirby gets out, he looks back down the dumpster and gives this stupid face, and I couldn’t even imagine the point of it. Also, having Eli’s mom just as brain-dead as her son is rather annoying, and I think if I had seen that kid kiss his shoulders one more time I was going to throw my remote through the TV.
In any case, the plot points in Kirby’s bit had a lot of good ideas. Ankle bracelets, a CSI-type investigation for Kirby to find his friends, and the always hilarious Principal Mitchell cutting promos like nobody’s business.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
