Review: Family Guy “The Heartbreak Dog” (S14Ep16)

Spoilers Below

Brian chose not to be man’s best friend in this episode. While he and Bonnie were talking alone, they kissed. This eventually boiled over into Bonnie wanting to leave Joe and run away with Brian. Meanwhile, Meg got a volunteer gig working for an elderly community. Portraying the occupants as ungrateful, she was able to steal from them for a short while with a clear conscious. Chris became involved and tried to talk her out of stealing, but later wanted in on all of the “heists”.
As Brian justified the kiss during a neighborhood intervention, everyone shortly realized how much they disliked him and how many problems he has caused them. This is what caused the blowout to make Bonnie leave with Brian. After traveling a short amount of time, they come to find out that neither of them had money for gas. They found a job waiting tables to make some money. This was extremely short lived. Joe later found them via a dog tracking device in Brian so that he could repair his marriage.
Chris started off strong in this episode by trying to talk Meg out of robbing the elderly. He eventually broke down and wanted to help her. At one point, we see him walk into an older woman’s room in a shoddy angel costume informing her that he is there to bring her to heaven. He led her to the closet and locked the door; then proceeded to rob her. I laughed, but you know this had to happen in real life at some point.
There was a hilarious running joke this episode. The joke was of Juliette Lewis making out with dogs; and each time it was brought up, it was perfectly placed. It wasn’t the actual subject matter that was funny, but the context of which it was in. I would recommend watching the episode just for that. Each character also learned lessons that were explained in the last 15 seconds of the episode…at the same exact time.

Very Family Guy.
